                                                    Jasper Middle School

                                                       Grades Six - Eight

Jasper Middle School is located at 3600 Portersville Road in Jasper, Indiana. JMS is home to 6th to 8th grade students. Jasper Middle School offers many academic, extracurricular and athletic opportunities to all students. Faculty and Staff work hard to provide a top-notch educational experience to all Jasper Middle School Students. Curriculum adheres to the Indiana Academic Standards and faculty and staff frequently consult the Indiana Department of Education website to ensure learning objectives are being met.

At Jasper Middle School, we understand that the transition from Elementary School to Middle School brings lots of change. Changes include lockers, lunch tables, changing classes, friends, teachers, new opportunities and more. While there is lots of change, expectations for students remain the same. With more freedom comes more responsibility. After completing Middle School, students will face another change, the transition into High School. By choosing to attend JMS as a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader, stakes are lower when it comes time for the High School transition, as students are at that point exposed to much higher stakes, such as GPA and social issues and pressures.

The JMS Curriculum adheres to the Indiana Academic Standards. During 8th grade, students have multiple courses available to take for High School Credit. Curriculum for all students includes English, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Band or Music. 6th Graders take Computer Applications and Health. 7th Graders take Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) and Art. 8th Graders take Engineering Essentials or a Foreign Language of their choice. High School Credit Courses available to 8th Graders at JMS include Algebra 1, Honors, Biology 1, Honors, Spanish 1, French 1, German 1, Engineering Essentials, Preparation for College and Careers and Physical Education.

Jasper Middle School offers many Student Supports to ensure success inside and outside of the classroom. JMS has a full-time school Social Worker, Guidance and Career Counselors, a full-time Nurse, Student Assistance Team, full-time School Resource Officer, Math and ELA Remediation Labs, Supported Study and Labs and Study Tables.

When it comes to technology, all students have their own HP Windows Device. All devices come with a case. JMS offers a device exchange program as well as a technology help desk to assist with device issues. All GJCS students in grades 1-12 use Canvas for class assignments, quizzes, tests, discussions and announcements. PowerSchool is the Student Information System utilized by all GJCS Schools. Additionally, all Jasper Middle School classrooms are equipped with a Newline Interactive Panel to enhance learning. This is the same technology that is used at Jasper High School.

Jasper Middle School has a wide variety of extracurricular activities, athletics and fun activities available for all students. JMS offers over 35 clubs that range from academic to hobby interests. Athletic teams are available at all grade levels and compete against other local teams. Additionally, there is the JMS Fun Club, that provides fun opportunities to students in addition to their exceptional educational experience.

Placement Testing is available to interested students. JMS offers the same placement testing to incoming Holy Trinity and Home-Schooled students as we do for incoming GJCS fifth graders. CogAT is administered in mid-March/April at JMS after school hours. iReady is administered in April at JMS after school hours, if applicable. If you would like to be included in the placement testing (you can be included even if you have not made your final decision about where you will attend the next school year). Please let Mr. Hubster or Tiffany Maxey know if you have any questions.

At Jasper Middle School, our motto is "Imagine with all your mind, Believe with all your heart, and Achieve with all your might." Our faculty and staff are with students every step of the way to help them imagine, believe and achieve all of their goals.
